Gasyrlar Avazy – Echo of Centuries is a peer–reviewed scientific and documentary journal devoted to topical issues of national historiography, the history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals.

 

The journal has been published since May 1995 (it was founded as a continuation of the journals "Notes of the Central Archive of the TSR" ‒ published in 1925, and "Bulletin" ‒ published intermittently in 1928-1933). The founder of the journal is "State Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan".

 

The journal is included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, in the system of the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

 

The journal was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan in the field of science and technology (2011).

 

Frequency: 4 times a year.

 

The purpose of the journal is to publish archival documents of domestic and foreign archives on the history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals, which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.

 

Tasks of the journal:

‒ identification and publication of previously unpublished archival documents;

‒ introduction of documents and manuscripts from family archives into scientific circulation;

‒ coordination, popularization and review of scientific historical research from ancient times to the present day on the history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals.

The journal is focused on providing scientific information and archival documents for students, postgraduates, teachers, researchers and all those who study the history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals.

The publication publishes original scientific articles and previously unpublished documents from the archives of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation and foreign countries corresponding to the group of specialties: 5.6.1. National History (historical sciences), 5.6.2. General History (historical sciences), 5.6.3. Archeology (historical sciences).

 

The opinions expressed in the articles reflect the personal views of the authors and do not necessarily coincide with the point of view of the editorial board and the editorial board of the journal. The reprint of materials and the use of materials published in the journal without the permission of the editorial board and the authors of the article are not allowed.

 

The journal has been operating an independent institute for internal review of incoming materials since its foundation. The review is conducted unilaterally. In addition to the members of the editorial board, well-known and respected experts in the field of humanitarian research are involved in the Institute of peer review.

The sections of the journal fully correspond to its concept.

 

The heading "From the depths of centuries" is addressed to the events, documents of the ancient, medieval history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals. According to these periods, historical written evidence has been preserved in the form of works by Arab and Persian authors, Western European travelers, and Ancient Russian chroniclers. Sometimes they are not devoid of bias, often their authors used second-hand information. All this requires painstaking analytical work prior to the introduction of these sources into scientific circulation, comparative studies.

 

The history of the Tatar people and the peoples of the Volga region and the Urals during the revolutionary years and the Soviet period, the work of government bodies and public organizations is widely represented in the heading "The XX Century: pages of history". From its first issues, the journal publishes documents on the history of the formation and development of national culture and periodicals. The events of the Great Patriotic War are in the center of the magazine's constant attention.

 

"Time in fates and documents" is one of the most personalized headings. It publishes materials about the life and work of famous public, religious, and cultural figures.

 

The section "Opinions. Judgments. Versions" includes articles prepared on the basis of a historiographical analysis of the conducted scientific research.

 

The section "Our calendar" contains articles dedicated to the anniversaries of Russian history, the history of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals.

 

The heading "Leafing through ra re publications and manuscripts" introduces readers to ancient Turkic written sources, works of the Middle Ages, the works of researchers of Tatarstan, the Volga region and the Urals.

 

In the section "New books. Comments and reviews" the responses of scientists to the latest publications of a historical and archival nature on the history of the Tatar people, the peoples of the Volga region, the Urals and the history of Russia as a whole are published.

 

Publications of the heading "Into historian's notebook. Archival patchwork" provides interesting information about the way of life, life, and history of peoples living in Russia. It also presents research related to the milestone periods of historical reality.
