
The All-Russian scientific seminar with international participation “The role of Islamic institutions in social and cultural life of Tatars”
On March 9, 2022, in the small hall of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Center of Islamic Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and the editorial office of the journal “Gasyrlar avazy – Echo of centuries” of the State Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan held the All-Russian scientific seminar with international participation entitled “The role of Islamic institutions in social and cultural life of Tatars”, which was dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adoption of Islam in Volga Bulgaria.
Prominent experts from Kazan, Moscow, Astrakhan, Ufa and Kostanay (the Republic of Kazakhstan) presented their reports at the scientific event.
The basic issues specified in the presentations of speakers may be grouped into several major scientific topics: religious manuscripts and published works in spiritual life of Tatars (Candidates of Historical Sciences D. R. Gilmutdinov and N. G. Garaeva); financing mechanisms of Islamic institutions and social regional projects and participation of various population groups (Candidates of Historical Sciences P. S. Shabley and R. I. Malikov, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences M. A. Safarov); the role of the Orenburg Muslim Spiritual Assembly in the introduction of governmental innovations among Muslims and renewal of education content in confessional schools (Candidate of Historical Sciences M. N. Farkhshatov, Doctors of Historical Sciences G. B. Azamatova and I. K. Zagidullin); regional spiritual leaders (A. V. Syzranov); formation of the municipal Tatar mahalla in the late Soviet period in the Tatar ASSR (Candidate of Philological Sciences A. M. Akhunov) and contribution of structural subdivisions and wards of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan to the social life of the population of Tatarstan (Candidate of Historical Sciences R. K. Adygamov).
In the seminar, a constructive exchange of views was held to identify new approaches to studying the scientific topic “The role of Islamic institutions in social and cultural life of Tatars in the new, Soviet and post-Soviet times”.
